Melissa :
balanchine is for the divas, vaganova is for the practical girlies, cecchetti is for the girlie's who reminded the teacher there was an assignment due. I will not be convinced otherwise.

Laconic :
Vaganova seems technical, almost rigid and Balanchine seems more expressive and fluid. It looks like a tyoical Old School v New Wave battle but I don’t know enough; it’s just my thoughts!

Vaganova looks as if it strives for perfection and precision while balanchine looks as if it strives for grace and expressiveness

I was trained in vaganova during the week and balanchine during the weekend (dif schools) and I was always getting corrected till we all realized the reason

Vaganova for everything but petite allegro. However, I need the heels down in plié. My opinion.

Watching you demonstrate both made me think vaganova = Natalie Portman white swan and Balanchine = Mila kunis black swan

My teacher was a strict asian lady who was raised in russia and graduated from a russian ballet academy... needless to say it was vaganova or failure 😔 structured and exact, perfect and poised

My ballet teacher also taught at ABT so we did their curriculum which is a mix of the different styles.
