It arises from the 💡 interatrial septum (fossa ovalis) and moves freely with blood flow, sometimes prolapsing into the mitral valve orifice during diastole, mimicking mitral stenosis. They may cause embolic events or systemic symptoms (fever, weight loss) due to IL-6 secretion. ❌ Gallstone - echogenic focus within the gallbladder, not within the heart ❌ Ectopic pregnancy - gestational sac outside the uterus, typically in the fallopian tube ❌ Left atrial thrombus - usually forms in patients with atrial fibrillation or mitral stenosis; it’s non-mobile and lacks the pedunculated stalk seen with a myxoma 🔥 Follow me Dr Matt Barrett @dr_mattbarrett to study medicine smarter! #doctor #nurse #mbbs #medico #medstudent
