@spool.ish: Heat set inserts are one of those things nobody tells you about when you start 3D printing — and they should be in every beginner tutorial. A threaded brass fitting you melt directly into your print. The plastic flows around the knurling, cools, and locks it permanently. Now you’ve got a real metal thread inside a 3D print that won’t strip. Ten cents each. No reason not to use them. Next: which tip actually matters and how to set your iron temp. #3dprinting #heatsetinserts #3dprintingtips #bambulab #makertok

you inserted them backwards. There needs to be a shoulder for it to pull against

The most over-used, incorrectly-used, and often unnecessarily used piece of hardware in 3D printing. They absolutely have their place, but 9/10 times I see these used there’s a better and simpler solution.

When someone first recommended these to me years ago I thought you had to press fit them in and use superglue to keep them in place. A confusing and frustrating few weeks. 🤣

I put them in on the opposite side of where the force comes from so that the insert has even more plastic in the way putting them on the same side as the force can pull them out if you didn't get your tolerances perfect
