@tranquilstreamsmusic: Beethoven dedicated this to a piano student he was in love with. Countess Giulietta Guicciardi. Her name is printed on the 1802 first edition, and she was studying with him around the time he wrote it. In November 1801 he wrote to his friend Franz Wegeler about a dear, charming girl who loves me and whom I love. He never wrote her name in that letter. Wegeler supplied it 37 years later, in a book published after Beethoven was gone. So the dedication is documented, and the feelings are documented. Whether this music is actually about her, nobody can tell you. She married someone else in 1803. This is the complete first movement, played slower than most.
