It’s either these are mold spores or it’s beginning to solidify. The pattern is highly suggestive of mold.

I live in Mexico & use coconut oil both for cooking & for moisturizing (different jars). My oil melts & solidifies several times through the year as the weather changes. It has *never* solidified in little round circles.

Very easy way to tell. If you warm it up and the ‘colonies’ disappear then it’s not anything to be concerned about. If they don’t disappear then you have an active microbial load and water would’ve gotten into the bottle at some point.

The white spots are uniform in color and shape, like smooth wax droplets. They don’t look fuzzy, hairy, or filamentous, which is how mold often looks. Many of the spots have a small dimple in the center, which is a common occurrence when fats solidify and cool.
