I think it's mainly to do with the fact that aeons are more like concepts and people don't like the thought that this literal concept just has a human form, personally I think that nihilux is an avatar of aha but there's no way she's purely just aha, aha is an omnipresent being, aeons like nanook and yaoshi both have human looking forms shown but they never descend into a mortal body

nanook was a man before they ascended. once they became an aeon n therefore a concept, their gender becomes incomprehensible to us. most aeons HAD a gender before they ascended, bc they didn't start off cosmic beings. nanook is not a man as they stand as a current aeon, n aha is not a woman as they stand as a current aeon

This is true but please use female presenting or male presenting, I am unsure on how hoyo will refer to nihilux in the future but Nanook along with aeons are meant to be genderless referred to with THEY/THEM

Looking for misogyny everywhere just because you’ve got no other arguments… As if there weren’t plenty of strong female characters in HSR. Nihilux was perfect and her outfit was perfect. Nobody’s complaining because they don’t like her as a woman. Many simply wanted to play the comic artist Nihilux, not the Aeon Nihilux. Her outfit is now a copy of Sparxy’s, and what made AHA special was its mysterious, non-human form without any gender association. And if people had wanted Sampo, that wouldn’t make them misogynistic either. By that logic, would you then be misandrist simply because you want a female AHA? That’s nonsense. Just because you prefer one character or find them more suitable, does that automatically mean you hate the other? What sort of logic is that?

Aha is not a woman and Nanook is not a man, nor is that implied. The aeons are genderless manifestations of their paths, basically concepts. AHA simply took on a feminine form when THEY chose to wear a new mask, but they’ve worn the masks of men before as well. Nihilux is AHA, but AHA is not bound to the identity of Nihilux.
