@peytangoeshard: This might be one of the clearest arguments yet against the whole Al slop label. The idea is that artists have always moved between tools, from drawing and photography to video, 3D, VFX and now Al. Using a new tool because it gives you more creative freedom does not mean the work took no skill, thought or effort. What makes the clip work is that it does more than defend Al. It is well written, well directed, and generated with Al to make the point through the work itself. The premise is simple: the studios may no longer need the artist, but now the artist may no longer need the studio. This was made by @nekodificador using ComfyUl and MiniMax H3. What are your thoughts on this?

It doesn’t give you more creative freedom, it cuts artists out of the creation

I’ve been a graphic designer for over 30 years. Now with AI I’m living out a childhood dream of designing a fully functional video game. AI does the heavy lifting but it still needs a driver.

So my definition of slop is when you accept whatever the ai gives you basically when you give it to much control, getting the ai to produce what you actually want is extremely difficult sometimes but I feel this because I hate when people think using ai is easy and lazy

I'm 50 years old I've been a poet and a songwriter my entire life. however, I don't know how to play any instruments. therefore my songs have never been heard. thanks to AI I can plug the lyrics in to suno, give it a few prompts, and my songs come to life. I'm honest when I tell you, I cried the first time I heard one of my own songs

The issue is not with ease or fun but with theft. These tools are trained on stolen data and art and the original creators are not compensated. Plus there’s the environmental impact of the data centers running these tools.

There truly is stuff that is AI slop. Not everything made with AI is slop, but the slop is slop.

Spot on. Good lord. I see glimmers of the AI backlash breaking and if it does I hope this will be the narrative we end up with. More ways to express myself, more ways for my imagination to take shape, more tools to tell stories … we need to get over ourselves.

Maybe this is just the new way to storyboard ideas and to pitch to studios to make. Being able to give 5 min snippets of ideas would be invaluable.

AI with proper control allows me to create things that would have been stuck in my imagination, unexpressed and untouched by reality. Be considerate of what you create. Every tool has good and poor ways to use it. But to tell me exactly how many dollars and years I have to put into doing things the way someone else does them is the only acceptable way to create - that an egotistical illusion. My art won’t look the same as your training, but it will exist. And to me, that is a treasure I don’t know how to describe.

I freaking love watching Ai slop, it's almost "dreamy" in a way 😂 I know there's no way someone would spend tons of time and money making some of these insane creations the traditional way so I'm grateful Ai can deliver it

I’m not an artist (prods to the art wizards) but how I decide when to use AI is this: 1. Am I already proficient in what I’m requesting? Yes. 2. Do I enjoy the process? No. 3. Am I capable of identifying deficiencies and correcting the AI output? Yes. Then maybe AI can be used, and I can reallocate that time to check more crucial items.
