That's the least of homeowners problems. Where are the headers on top of the doors and the other 2x2s on each side of them.

so those huge rtags in the ceiling and they do nothing? imo that's wasteful, true return or bust on custom homes!

It's called a balanced air passive return. More flow and less noise. Mostly used in bedroom areas. I don't like passive returns.

Has to be 1.5x larger than the supplies feeding the entire master suite (closets, baths included). The only thing I can figure is inspector popped them on it not being large enough, especially if that's Duval County.

Sloppy work and a waste of materials as it can be directly brought into the HVAC closet and mount the AH on a Casket

Your door frame is missing a couple of jack studs if that’s a load bearing wall

thats dumb. jumpers are dumb. they dont work well. Done right: every room except kitchens, bathrooms, and laudry rooms should have a real return. I hate this garbage. chainsaw chas does this in AZ. Go back and get a TD room to room when theyre all done with the build.

I’m not a fan of passive returns I’m thinking they’re just trying to balance it out. Or they’re just wasting time and money.

Seen this before in southern states. Its to equalize air pressure within the home. Slam a door shut all doors open or close

My guess is that the two boxes weee tied together directly and someone didn’t realize, and ran a flex from one to the other… doesn’t change the performance at all just too much activity on the job…
