@charleybournetruecrime: The Survival Story Of Janice Brooks ❤️‍🩹 Being in New York during the 9/11 attacks must have been horrifying. Being INSIDE OF TOWER 2 as the plane hit the building next to you.. is another level of horror In September 2001, Janice Brooks had just started a new job in New York. When American Airlines Flight 11 struck the north tower. At first the people inside of the twin towers didn’t really understand the gravity of what was happening. It was initially thought to be a horrific accident. Sadly the people inside of Tower 2 were told not to evacuate because the building was stable. Janice had made it down to the 72nd floor when her tower was then also hit by a plane. The survivor stories from inside of the twin towers are absolutely horrifying and it will always blow me away the amount of heroic firemen that sacrificed their lives to save others. It’s now been 25 years since 9/11 and millions of people alive today have never known a world before 9/11. #truecrime #crimetok #crime #crimestory

My auntie was on the building when it happened she said she was told to go back to her desk and she did.. just moments letter the second plane struck she was right next to the stairs at her desk she could see the plane just ubove her hanging down. She remembered bumping onto a lady who had her arm alive of and half hanging of so she carried her all the way down the start case, there was people screaming, shouting from the elevator next to her but she couldn't help she carried this lady all the way to safety and ran with her to a near by chemist that day she survived but only just barley as the building collapsed just 13 minutes later I am so proud of her.

I was in the north tower lobby when the plane hit (my family was moving back to Canada the next week) and I was only 3 so my dad had taken me to the viewing deck to just “see the sights” before he’d drop me off at daycare and he’d head to his office. We were about to leave the building when, according to dad, he ran into some colleagues in the lobby—to me just really tall people in suits so I was getting fussy. Anyways, even I remember a “rumble”, and again, according to dad, no one knew what was going on obviously and he remembers people thinking it had been some building malfunction/gas leak or even a mini earthquake. Anyways, bc I was with him, he said he wanted to get me out of there, saying goodbye to said colleagues. And again, even I remember this—it was snowing. Obviously it wasn’t snow, it was paper and ash 🥺 so I guess dad looked up and saw smoke and just started running with me in my stroller away from the building. Obviously neither of us knew what was happening and neither of went to daycare or work, and unfortunately as no one knew what was happening, a lot of the colleagues went back up to their respective offices (again, according to dad), but sadly, a lot of them never came down 😭 RIP to those who didn’t make it and much love to everyone impacted ❤️

New Yorker here, I was 13 in my science class and they shut off all the TVs. My teacher came into the classroom on his cell phone (not common in 2001) so everyone was concerned and he broke the news to us. Many students were crying worried about their parents or siblings or family members. People walked home over the bridges covered in ash. It was surreal and awful 💔

It's so strange to think that no one had TVs in their offices. We were all glued to the TVs at work for so long.

My dad lost some of his friends who were working in lower floors, They were told the towers wouldn’t collapse, they did try to leave but couldn’t. They suffocated and burned alive because of the smoke and fire after they got stuck there. I can’t imagine the horror

my dad was supposed to go into work at 10am on sep 11th, he was a delivery man who delivered packages to cantor fitzgereld and morgan stanely. one in the north tower and one in the south. every year i spend 9/11 with him because he lost so many people. yesterday i asked how he was doing and he said "im alive. on this day, im alive. 25 yrs ago, i was alive" and that has been replaying in my head because if he worked earlier or the attacks were later he wouldnt have made it, the floors he was on was 84 in one tower and 104 in the other. everyday im greatful that he worked at 10 that day cause if he worked earlier i wouldnt be here.

It was such a scary day. Everyone thought that more planes were coming. We had no idea whether or not we were going to be safe. For weeks after, people roamed the streets of NY holding photos of their loved ones begging everyone to look and ask if they’d seen them- spouses, siblings, children. That was the worst part. Having to look at these devastated family members and telling them you don’t know where their loved ones are.

I remember the exact moment the second plane hit. I was in college, aged 17 and decided to come home early because my first class was cancelled. I walked inthe house to my mum was on the edge if the sofa just in tears and as I looked at the TV and saw a plane hit a building I remember the scream that came out of her mouth. It was blood curling [Teary eyed] I didnt realise at the time that there had already been a plane hit the first building. That date is something I will never forget.

my mom’s bf’s cousin at the time was working in the south tower on the 93rd floor. the bf was able to call him after the first tower got hit and urged him to leave. as soon as the cousin exited the building he looked up and saw the second plane strike 🥀

To be told to go back to work while people were dying next door is demonic. Like how did the person making the announcement not think the plane next door could explode? Did the company ever get reprimanded for telling people to go back to work?
