@economyninja: Dollar General’s CEO says financial stress is spreading up the income ladder. Rising fuel and everyday costs are changing how consumers shop and that can ripple through the entire economy. #dollargeneral #Inflation #FuelPrices #Economy #FinanceTok
Middle income is now month to month living. It's all coming backwards.

I’m a successful 51 year old man with no debt. I retired at 47. We are eating my grandparent’s and great grandparent’s depression era recipes and still not staying within the budget we projected for food through this era.

I just paid 100$ for a bag of groceries. After 30$ for 1/3 a tank of gas. I’m 49 and I’ve never watched prices as much as now. I feel guilty buying FOOD

I was in high school in the early 90’s , I vividly remember one of my teachers telling me the middle class will be wiped out in about 30 years

I've never had to plan out meals before. I'd just go grocery shop and but what I wanted. hell no. could never in this economy. I plan out our dinners for the entire week and only buy the ingredients I need that aren't already in the fridge or cupboard. I've had to change me entire way of thinking about food.

Most of my meals are leftovers from the kitchen at my work so I don't HAVE to spend money on groceries. It's been my only saving grace during this rough period 😔

Working at DG is a joke. I did it. They pay crap ton for cctv cameras on their employees! If they took some of that money and paid more, employees would not eat the pulled stuff.

Mid-High Middle class has quickly become Lower Middle class. In the past 5-6 years. And it keeps getting worse.

Dollar General should be ashamed of themselves. They get rich on the backs of the poor taking advantage of them in rural areas. My DG in panhandle of Florida is more expensive than Walmart!!!

If middle class families (especially upper middle class) are complaining, imagine how bad it is for the people making minimum wage or those at or under poverty level.
