I was one of those guys that got offended at that phrase. It’s taken me a while to fully grasp, comprehend, and understand why girls/women think and feel this way. Because I know I’m not a threat does not equate to anyone else automatically assuming the same. I’d rather my wife and daughters have this mentality than to trust any guy they encounter in their everyday lives unassumingly. It is absolutely all of us until it’s none of us.

I hate feeling like a threat, but it’s not about me. It’s not about any one guy. It’s about the fact that any guy a girl doesn’t know is a potential threat. Hell, even a guy a girl does know can quickly become a threat. The fact that so many guys get defensive about it is part of the issue.

This!!! Even i worry when I'm out and I'm definitely not the type that has to worry as much but I swear to god every time i go out i am on guard for myself and my friends. Watching drinks and groups of guys and ones talking to a friend of my group ect. Thank you for understanding is not you personally but its you as a whole!

I was in a situation once where a man I had NO interest in showed up at my door and attacked me. He was so fast and I was so shocked that I was in real danger. Then a large man came down the apartment hall, the door was still open, he saw what was happening and beat the hell out of the guy attacking me. Sadly this is not the end of the story because the next time I saw my rescuer he was all over me. He felt I owed him sex because he saved me from the first rapey guy. It never really ends.
