This is not necessary if you have a stainless steel water bowl and put it in the dishwasher every night. It is easier if you have two bowls.

I clean my dogs bowl daily and she drinks from a rusty Tonka truck in the backyard or licks the sidewalk. So for those reasons, I’m out.

the only problem is that all the parts are plastic. plastic releases micro plastics and absorbs smells. if at least the bowl was made of stainless steel id be more inclined to buy it
