Each generation went thru the same. The job definition might have changed, but those are choices to have more, we did with less. We continued thru late years helping with grandkids, great grandkids and are still helping where we can. Its all impossible...we just do what's necessary until we can't anymore. Theres no generational difference, unless you have enough money that let's you decide you don't want to do it anymore. But then it comes down to conscience. Do you help the kids in a financial way then? Still normal.

Here's the thing. I do not mind helping my aging parents as their health declines. But my first priority will always be me and my mental health. My second is my relationship with my husband. And 3rd my son. He's in college and living at home. I will do everything I can to make sure he doesn't start his life in debt. After that every resource I can provide I will. I love and adore my parents.
