RECIPE BELOW ❤️👇 My dress is inside out, dog hair all over said inside out dress and no makeup on, but here’s how I made this coconut milk anyway 😆❤️ Why buy coconut milk when you can make some for the exact same price as the canned stuff with 30 more dishes and an hour of work? 😆 Just kidding (kind of) 😎 First, I will say that it is a little misleading for me to say “latte” because I don’t drink coffee, but this coconut milk would work great with a chai, matcha, mushroom coffee or whatever is your morning beverage of choice :) All you need is a brown coconut and some filtered water and a (very) high-powered blender like a @vitamix. First, I drilled holes in the eyes of the brown coconut and reserved the water. Then, I cracked open the shell of the coconut with a hammer (you can look it up on YouTube). Then, I took the two halves and put them over steaming water for 10 minutes to sort of loosen the meat from the shell. NOTE: You can also do this raw (freezing and thawing can work) but I didn’t mind this technique considering I was going to steam the milk anyway. I took a butter knife between the inner shell of the coconut and the outer shell and pried the meat out, used a vegetable peeler to remove the inner shell and then put the pieces of the coconut in my @vitamix with the reserved coconut water and a couple splashes of filtered water, maybe about 1 cup or so. It needed to be enough to blend super smooth and cover the blades of the blender. From there I strained over a strainer with a dish towel (mimicking a cheese cloth). From there, it was perfect to use. My yield was about 10 oz. I used about 5 oz of the coconut milk and added 3 oz or so of water before steaming. This is your preference. Keep it as thick as you want. Use it as you would for your steamed milk in any recipe (that pairs well with coconut). If you aren’t on a Daniel Fast, you can always add a natural sweetener like raw honey or maple syrup. Enjoy! #realfood #justeatrealfood #foodfromgod
