So here is the opposite of a cautionary tale. I have been investing in pensions since I was 23. I retired earlier this year at 59 with a pension pot of £1.6m. Never had some high flying high paid job. Just lived below my means and invested steadily. I am currently planning my eighth foreign holiday this year for next month with December still to plan for.

Nah I'm okay thanks. Accept being a sausage. I live for the now and might not live to be a pensioner. If I get there and I'm poor at least I had a good life. Seen too many people save and put things off until retirement and don't make it. Each to their own, but it's a no from me.

There’s far too many ‘sausages’ out there! What a refreshing change, I’ve had so many conversations with people trying to persuade colleagues to not only opt in but also increase contributions. I love the smell of compound interest in the morning [Big LOL]

For anyone who has opted out: the employer must re-enrol them every three years, and they can ask to rejoin in writing before then.

I'll have a 28 year NHS pension when I retire .. paying in 10.7% myself and 23% is being paid in by the NHS >> BUT it's not going to be enough so I am investing further into SIPPs x 2 and a S&SIsa.... peopl need to evaluate their workplace pensions
