The anger bubbles up, the lustful thought creeps in, the lie rolls off your tongue, and you move on with your day. And that terrifies you. Because you think, "If I was really saved, wouldn't I feel worse about this?" A lot of believers carry this quietly. They won't say it out loud because it sounds bad. But the question is real. Here's what most people don't understand. Not feeling guilty doesn't mean the Holy Spirit left you. Sometimes your conscience becomes dull not because God left, but because sin became routine. When you repeat something enough times, your flesh stops flagging it. It becomes background noise. That's not freedom. That's desensitization. Paul knew this tension. "The good that I would, I do not. The evil which I would not, that I do." Even the apostle Paul wrestled with the gap between what he knew was right and what his flesh kept doing. Not feeling bad about sin doesn't mean you're not saved. It means your flesh has gotten comfortable with something your spirit was never meant to tolerate. Think about it like this. Wear a backpack long enough and you forget it's there. The weight doesn't disappear. You just stop noticing it. That's what habitual sin does. The load doesn't get lighter. You just stop feeling it. And the enemy loves that. Because the sin you stop noticing is the sin you stop fighting. The fact that you're even asking "why don't I feel bad?" is proof the Holy Spirit is working in you. A dead conscience doesn't ask that question. Yours is. That's conviction, not condemnation. Take that, get back in the Word, and let God sharpen your heart.
