its a bit of a surprise and not at the same time. i work with a bunch of guys that clearly haven't been hugged or had an interaction with a woman in a romantic setting in a ling while and its shows. im not saying this in a bad way, is something that i had obseved at work

I'm not surprised people are shying away from chats. (Generative) AI is running rampant at the moment, so it's not too surprising that people are worried that they're talking to a bot. It's awful that real, hard working people are losing income because their clients/customers cannot trust what's real anymore :(. I'm somewhat active in fandom/artist spaces and it's the same story there. Creators are posting on all their platforms in their bio, pinned posts, etc that all their stuff is human made, without AI, just to try to reassure their customers. And the hesitancy to buy is so real 😞

I think it is completely unsurprising that they yearn for (parasocial) intimacy. They want to watch you talk about subjects you’re passionate about, and they want to observe you in your ‘natural state’.

I've been doing this kind of job for over a decade and the amount of people asking me if I'm AI this year is deeply concerning. I fully understand the need to make sure we're real, but it's so odd to have to proof you're a human being every other day...

Ngl with the last one I’m iffy on that bc I’ll always understand where a person comes from in seeking just a normalcy or connection in this but I guess isn’t there a fear of parasocial fans? I know you meet clients in person too, I just don’t know how u tackle such a scary thing
