If the renter cleans up then the owner doesn’t pay the professional cleaners the whole fee. So the cleaners play up anything not done by the renter so they can claim the whole fee. The owner gets mad at you because they didn’t make as much money.

I owned a beach vacation rental for 13yrs. I had a cleaner complain a guest left the condo "sandy" FFS!!! It was the last time she cleaned for me

That’s my issue with hots too, you can’t trust them to do the right thing necessarily. Most are remote and rely on cleaners to get back to them. I am happy with the changes Airbnb is making.

when you ask me to wash sheets vacuum/ sweep and make sure everything is spotless but still charge a $300 cleaning fee made it where it was better to stay at a hotel.

I had two friends that recently had to rent a place for the month and at check in got instructions that if they wore shoes in the apartment they would get charged $300. There were no rugs or carpets, and no downstairs neighbors…

I don’t host & rarely rent Airbnb but the fact that they are encouraging people to leave dirty dishes is so gross. There’s no reason we should put towels in the tub or strip beds or vacuum or anything like that but wash your dishes! Wash dishes every time you prepare food. That’s how you get roaches and rats and mold. 😷
