Yes! There is definately a need to celebrate women in science more across the board!

As well as this there’s one woman on the medicine paper in history. They cut Mary Seacole because they felt it was unnecessary

Now Cambridge is kind of changing the names and giving more importance to Franklin. I'm a genetist at Addenbrookes hospital and there's a massive moral, also a plaque in the Eagle (the pub where Watson and Crick screamed they had discovered something) but it wasn't as clear when I was at uni in Spain, even in my molecular biology classes. It was always Watson, Crick and sometimes Wilkins (that barely did anything)

It’s sad that so few women are getting the recognition they deserve for their work still, but it goes beyond providing inspiration to girls and encouraging their enthusiasm for STEM subjects. Educating boys that girls are just as capable and have achieved success, overcoming significant hurdles to do so, is important if we want to lower future levels of misogyny. And who knows, maybe that story about a scientist that was different from everyone else could inspire boys too as they recognise a similarity beyond gender.
