@qbuilder: My agent installs things on its own now, I see the package name after it’s already in the project. That was fine until this week, when a package half the AI apps use shipped a version that stole keys the moment it installed. Nobody imported it, nobody ran it, installing was enough. It was live for under two hours. So now it answers six things before it touches anything, and each one would have caught something this week. The maintainer check catches the attacker’s fork. The publish date catches the version from 40 minutes ago. The install script is how the keys left. The env and network check is where they went. The dependency count is how many strangers you just trusted. And the verdict hands the decision back to a human. The prompt, for your CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md: Before you clone or install anything, stop and report. Do not run it yet. Tell me: who maintains it and for how long, when the latest version was published and whether that’s unusually recent compared to the ones before, whether it runs any script on install, whether it reads environment variables or makes network calls on load, and how many dependencies it pulls in that I didn’t ask for. End with one line: install, install with --ignore-scripts, or don’t. Then wait for me. Save this for your project! #ai #Tech #security #cyberattack #claudeai
