Abd al-Mu'min ibn Ali was a 12th-century Amazigh ruler generally associated with the Kumiya, a Zenata group. A disciple of Ibn Tumart, the founder of the Almohad movement, he succeeded him as its leader and became the first Almohad caliph. Under his rule, the Almohads unified much of the Maghreb and conquered territories in al-Andalus. She fought the forces of the Arab general Hassan ibn al-Nu'man and achieved a major victory that temporarily forced him to retreat. Dihya maintained her authority over part of North Africa before eventually being defeated during a subsequent campaign, probably in the early 8th century. The exact circumstances of her death, her religious affiliation, and several details of her life remain debated among historians. Today, she is remembered as one of the most prominent figures of Amazigh resistance to the conquest of North Africa. Khalid ibn Hamid al-Zanati was an 8th-century Amazigh military leader associated with the Zenata confederation. He assumed leadership of the Amazigh insurgents following the downfall of Maysara al-Matghari and played a decisive role in the Great Berber Revolt against the Umayyad Caliphate. Around 740, his forces won the Battle of the Nobles against an Umayyad army. In 741, Amazigh insurgents achieved another major victory at the Battle of Bagdoura against Syrian and Ifriqiyan forces sent to restore the caliphate's authority.
