In case you needed another reason to boycott Amazon, its delivery drivers now wear AI glasses to your front step. Amazon announced the glasses in October 2025. Built-in cameras scan packages and take delivery photos, and directions show inside the lens. 500+ drivers have made 275,000+ deliveries in them, with 20,000+ pairs planned by end of 2027. According to Dave Lee, a columnist at the news outlet Bloomberg, the glasses also snap a photo every few seconds as drivers walk. That's thousands of images per shift of homes, yards, cars, and anyone walking by. Amazon staff review those photos, which feed Wellspring, the company's AI system that maps neighborhoods down to building entrances and parking spots. Drivers can choose whether to wear the glasses. You can't opt out, see the photos, or have them deleted. Asked about an opt-out, the Amazon executive running the program told Bloomberg, "We haven't thought about that." Amazon has no plan to tell customers about the glasses, hasn't said how long it keeps the photos, and confirmed police can get them with a warrant. In 2023, Ring, Amazon's doorbell camera company, paid $5.8 million to settle Federal Trade Commission claims that its staff could watch any customer's videos, and that one employee viewed thousands of videos of at least 81 women.
