I actually have “moments” where I feel bad for him because I have things he doesn’t… like empathy and compassion and I don’t want to lose that 😞, but it causes some inner conflict.

When my grandmother's dementia started to advance she always saw kuds....she had 5 kids with her most the time (I think they were my father and his siblings when they were little but she never told us that) it drove my aunt crazy....shed yell at grandma "THERES NO KIDS HERE!" One time we were going to lunch and I could see she wanted to say something but was scared so I asked her what's up? She said to me "I want to bring the kids but you dont see the kids do you?" I told her no...i dont see the kids but she can bring them...then when we were getting out of the car she looked anxious....i just gave her sone reassurance and before she closed the car door she leaned into the empty car and said "Wait here kids. .we'll be right back!" my aunt was there so grandma was scared shed get upset so I just told her ....loudly ....."Grandma! We dont leave kids in the car! Bring them in but theh better behave!" [Tears of joy]she was soooo happy! She KNEW somethibg wasnt right...she was a devout catholic and used to ask "Why is God doing this to me? I love him husf as he asked of me!" I could not answer that question but I could validate her....if she saw it it was REAL! Eventually she stopped having the lucidity then passed...it was very sad to see what that disease did to my sweet quiet "good" grandma.....she broke a nurses finger towards the end......😞😞
