TIP OF THE ICEBERG

Léa :
It’s not a shock to me. In early 2000, my ex-partner was beaten almost to death in his prison cell. The police also failed to investigate the abuse I suffered for years as a child. They did nothing, and reports about my abuser were hidden. Social Services intervened, protected me and placed me on the Child Protection Register, yet the police allowed my abuser to go on to intimidate and threaten us and damage my family’s home. Almost 30 years later, I have taken my case to the Police and Crime Commissioner and the IOPC. The failures I experienced have left me deeply traumatised, and I’m still fighting for accountability all these years later.
