I could have got straight A's in every class taken. I excelled at my interests. I only did enough to get by on the classes that were not my interest

My son was diagnosed with ADHD and he is one of the smartest kids when it’s something he wants to learn about you will watch videos documentary read for hours as long as it takes for him to get to know everything about whatever topic it is he loves so I’m with you. It’s a superpower.

Having so many ideas bouncing around in your head that you can't decide which one to pursue is not a fucking superpower. Be able to make a decision on which idea to pursue and following through is a superpower, when your mind is dispersed in every direction.

There’s more cons than pros. It is very much a disorder.

As a mom of 2 with ADHD and someone who has ADD and a husband with ADHD, I can tell you it’s real. Dealing with the daily meltdowns and depression when my kids can’t focus more than 2 minutes when doing homework. 😫 They beat themselves up daily and feel like they can’t function. I have one without it and he does great. No trouble making plans, doing said plans and functions normally. The other two struggle with goals, getting motivated, finishing a task, following directions, remembering upcoming events and leaving messes everywhere they go. Can they hyper focus on thing they love? Yes. But everything else falls apart around them. School is a massive struggle for them.

Agree. Usually, giving them medicine to “control” it is changing their personalities to fit in with parents and teachers laziness…..Not all but usually.

I have add and I’m really bad at boring tasks but let an emergency or high pressure event occur and I shine. It really is a great thing for the right situation. Btw I’m a paramedic.

I have severe adhd and wasnt medicated. in class i would randomly get this rush where brain was telling me i need to do something active like run around and a sensory feeling through my body. it was painful to sit there without exerting energy like kicking or tapping hands etc. As soon as got on the dexies it went away and was chilled as.

Disagree, my wife has adhd and without he meds she gets side tracked and get absolutely nothing done and completely scatter brained. Zero productivity and can’t stay focused long enough
